Sri Nityananda

I offer my respectful obeisances unto Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya and Lord Nityānanda, who are like the sun and moon. They have arisen simultaneously on the horizon of Gauḍa to dissipate the darkness of ignorance and thus wonderfully bestow benediction upon all.
(CC Ādi 1.2)

TRANSLATION

(1) I am singing news of great holy tidings. Lord Nityananda Himself has opened a market-place of the holy name in Surabhi-kunja.

(2) He is selling the pure holy name in that market-place for the price of only one’s faith.

(3) Lord Nityananda, seeing all the devotees becoming attracted, is selling them the holy name after bargaining with them.

(4) O brother, if you want the holy name then come with me. We must go to that great soul, Nityananda.

(5) You will get the name of Krishna, I will take my commission and all of our desires will be fulfilled.

(6) Lord Nityananda is greatly merciful. Taking only one’s faith, He gives the highest ecstasy.

(7) If He sees only once tears in the eyes while chanting the name “Gaura” then He gives everything to that person.

(8) He gives the pure teachings of Krishna to everyone not caring for their birth, wealth, knowledge and strength.

(9) Now, giving up the illusory snare of Maya, either remain in household life or in the forest as a sannyasi, for no more troubles remain.

(10) There is no more fear of the age of Kali. the merciful Nityananda gives the holy name to even the candalas.

(11) Bhaktivinoda calls out: “Except for the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda there is no other shelter!”

Bhaktivinod Thakur has written this song Hare Krsna Hare Nitai Ki Nam Eneche Re. The Official Name for this song is Nagara Kirtana Song 7 Sri Nama. This song is taken from the book Gitavali. Bhaktivinoda Thakura describes the essence of the Hare Krishna mantra. He gives an example of Ajamila who by only taking the name of Sri Krishna went to Vaikuntha. Sri Nityananda is so merciful that he gave the Holy Names of Krsna to all the afflicted souls. Even the demigods find pleasure in taking His names.

TRANSLATION
(1) Oh, what a wonderful name Lord Nityananda has brought! Nitai has brought the divine name to the Marketplace of the Holy Name, and He is giving away that name for the mere price of your faith! Oh!

(2) Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare-Oh! Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare-Oh!

(3) Oh, seeing the miserable condition of the fallen souls of this world, Nitai has personally brought the holy name from the transcendental realm of Vraja! Oh, Lord Siva chants this holy name with his five mouths! This holy name is so sweet! Oh, Lord Brahma chants this holy name with his four mouths! This holy name is so sweet! Oh, Narada Muni chants this holy name while playing on his vina! This holy name is so sweet! Oh, just by the dim reflection of this holy name, the sinful Ajamila went to Vaikuntha! Bhaktivinoda therefore says, “Oh, continuously chanting this holy name, go at once to the divine realm of Vraja! This holy name is so sweet!”
