Panca-Tattva Salagram Sila

I offer my obeisances unto the Supreme Lord, Kṛṣṇa, who is nondifferent from His features as a devotee, devotional incarnation, devotional manifestation, pure devotee and devotional energy.
(CC Adi 1.14)

Information – There was a proposal to have a Salagram Shila on the Panca-tattva altar that would receive worship on behalf of the five deities, similar to how we have Janardhan on Radha Madhava’s altar. For many years, HG Jananivas Prabhu and Pankajanghri Prabhu were looking for a Shila for Panchatattva, but it was very difficult to find one. The Salagram is generally found in the various incarnations of Vishnu.

Although Panca-tattva are Vishnu Tattva, they came as Bhakta Avatars, hiding themselves as devotees. Therefore, there is not much description about them in the Vedas. We did not find any suitable Shila and almost forgot about it.

In 2022, during the Netra-unmelan ceremony, HG Jananivasa Prabhu was in Rajapur conducting the ceremony of opening the eyes of Lord Jagannath after 15 days. During the festival, he saw a new Shila at the lotus feet of Lord Jagannath. When he asked the pujaris about it, they said it had recently been given to them by a devotee from Malaysia, who requested them to keep the Shila in the Jagannath Temple.

Upon closer inspection, Prabhu recognized that it was a Panchatattva Shila—square-shaped, with four sides and a top, and beautiful chakras on the top portion.

Panca-Tattva Salagram was installed on 1 January 2023.
